Can children get permanent jewelry?
Children under 12 should not have permanent jewelry due to safety concerns noted by the professional chain manufacturers. We are happy to provide jewelry with a clasp for them so they can still be a part of the experience.
Will my jewelry tarnish or fade?
We only use high-end recycled 14k solid gold, 14k gold fill & sterling silver chains and charms. Our permanent jewelry jump rings are always 14k solid gold, providing you with the best connection. The best option for the longest shine and durability will always be 14k solid gold. Sterling Silver may be reactive with chemicals or salt (sweat, salt water, etc) but can be cleaned with soap and water. 14k gold-fill, with proper care, can last a really long time. Decades even. It will never compare to 14k solid gold but it's a great alternative for the budget conscious.
The "bad" stuff is Gold Plated / Bronze / Brass / Gold 'dipped' / Gold vermeil / stainless steel / etc. and no one should be using that for permanent jewelry or even daily wear as it fades quickly and is not waterproof of life proof. We also will not ever sell chains with enamel designs on them - those are likely plated chains, and the enamel itself (aka Resin) will fall off within weeks of daily wear.
If your jeweler is unsure of what they are selling you, we'd recommend finding someone with the proper knowledge to be in the jewelry business.
What if my permanent jewelry breaks?
Life happens and we are here to help fix any breakage. If your jewelry snags or breaks, bring it in and we can either weld it back on or we can add a clasp to the piece. Both services are available for a small fee. We can do this service at our studio or at any pop-up event. We are always here to help!
